Zelis Healthcare

Principal Consultant · AI transformation and platform modernization · current engagement

I was engaged to lead modernization of a legacy healthcare claims-pricing platform, moving from an on-premises monolith toward a cloud-ready, distributed architecture within a $300M enterprise AWS migration program. I brought developers and QA professionals from my network to support the modernization effort.

The mandate expanded into AI transformation. Working with CTO leadership, I co-led a production POC, designed AI-native delivery practices, and drove adoption across multiple teams. The work demonstrated 4× engineering throughput, with 10× improvements on specific delivery tasks.

Alongside modernization and team enablement, I led healthcare AI initiatives in claims editing and Medicaid pricing analysis and contributed to enterprise knowledge infrastructure for teams and agents.

IPG

Fractional CTO · through Emerging Technologies · Feb 2017–May 2023

I served as Fractional CTO through Emerging Technologies, partnering with IPG’s leadership through a period of platform modernization and company growth. After assessing the technology, I recommended an Azure and Dynamics 365 modernization, including a core platform rebuild and data migration. The work reduced implementation costs by 20%.

I also strengthened the way business and technology teams planned and delivered work: clearer accountability, integrated planning, and delivery practices connected to the DevOps pipeline. Planning churn fell by 50%, and releases became more predictable.

IPG grew during this period and was later acquired by Evolent Health for $375M. That company outcome reflects a broader business effort, not technology work alone.

Oak Street Health

Fractional CTO · through Emerging Technologies · Mar 2016–Jun 2018

I co-led discovery and architecture for a patient outreach ecosystem that supported supplemental health coverage workflows during clinic visits and Oak Street Health’s grassroots growth model. The first Angular/.NET MVP reached production within six months, then expanded into a company-wide outreach system adopted across its clinics.

During the broader period, Oak Street Health grew from 17 to more than 150 clinics. CVS Health later acquired the company for $10.6B; that growth and transaction reflect the work of the full organization.
